QCHMB PROVIDES HUMAN MILK TO HUNDREDS OF VULNERABLE BABIES

The Quezon City Human Milk Bank (QCHMB) continues to extend its services beyond city residents, with 56 percent of its pasteurized milk supply last year going to non-QC beneficiaries.

Established in 2015, the milk bank provides pasteurized human milk to preterm and medically vulnerable infants whose mothers face lactation challenges.

In 2025, QCHMB distributed 738,670 milliliters of milk to 496 infants from nearby cities like Caloocan, Makati, Mandaluyong, and Manila, as well as Bulacan and Rizal provinces.

Mayor Joy Belmonte emphasized the program reflects the city’s commitment to public health, supporting vulnerable infants regardless of location, and noted that QC mothers’ self-sufficiency is a testament to local nutrition and lactation programs.

The initiative, recognized in the Galing Pook Awards, relies on over 3,300 donors, with all milk carefully pasteurized and donors screened for HIV, hepatitis B, and syphilis.
