PUSH FOR ELDERLY CARE CENTERS ACROSS THE COUNTRY GAINS SUPPORT FROM CAYETANO

Senator Alan Peter Cayetano has filed a bill proposing the establishment of wellness and care centers for senior citizens in every city and municipality nationwide.

The Centers for the Elderly will serve as hubs for health care, social services, and recreational activities, aiming to address the growing needs of the aging population.

The bill tasks the Department of Social Welfare and Development to lead implementation alongside local governments, with provisions for tax exemptions on necessary equipment.

It also calls for the creation of a Special Committee to oversee standards and a Seal of Excellence Award to recognize outstanding centers.

Cayetano cited Taguig City’s successful elderly care center as a model to be replicated across the country.
