The Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) reported that 80% of Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGOs) have ceased operations following a nationwide ban imposed by President Marcos.
However, some continue to operate illegally in a “guerilla” style, renting small spaces in Visayas and Mindanao for scamming activities.
Around 27,000 of 40,000 POGO workers have already been deported, but operators continue using foreign nationals to lead these small-scale setups.
The PAOCC is monitoring local officials suspected of enabling these operations, pointing to unusual activities like sudden foreign influxes and increased deliveries as indicators.
Marcos, who signed Executive Order 74 banning POGOs, emphasized the crackdown to eliminate crimes like human trafficking and abductions tied to the industry.
