PNP REPORTS 14% DROP IN FOCUS CRIMES NATIONWIDE FROM JULY TO SEPTEMBER

Focus crimes across the country dropped by nearly 14 percent from July to September, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Data showed 8,988 cases were recorded during the three months, down from 10,430 in the same period last year.

Among the eight monitored crimes, rape posted the biggest decline at 33 percent, followed by car theft at 28 percent and murder at 24 percent.

PNP acting chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. commended police units nationwide for their dedication to maintaining peace and order.

PNP spokesman Brig. Gen. Randulf Tuaño said the decline reflects the gains of intensified operations against illegal drugs, loose firearms, wanted persons, illegal gambling, smuggling, and cybercrime.
