The Philippine National Police (PNP) has mobilized 187,000 personnel across the country as it enters a heightened state of alert with the onset of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) on Thursday.
The PNP has announced that this heightened alert status will remain in effect until election day on October 30, and will extend through the All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day holiday period on November 1 and 2.
As of Wednesday, the PNP has reported a total of 88 incidents of suspected election-related violence. Among these, eight incidents have been confirmed to be directly linked to the elections.
Furthermore, the PNP has made a notable impact on maintaining law and order during this period. A total of 1,544 individuals have been apprehended, and 1,138 firearms have been seized due to violations of the gun ban, as confirmed by PNP.
