PLDT Inc. and Smart Communications plan to activate around 200 new telecom sites in 2025, focusing on improving connectivity in remote areas.
This initiative is part of the Private Sector Advisory Council’s commitment to enhancing digital infrastructure and expanding coverage to geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDAs).
PLDT Chief Operating Officer Butch Jimenez emphasized that each new site helps bridge the digital divide by providing remote communities with access to education, livelihoods, and vital services.
The company aims to connect hundreds of these communities through fiber and wireless solutions.
Under the government’s “Broadband ng Masa” program, PLDT is collaborating with agencies like the Department of Information and Communications Technology to speed up coverage expansion in underserved regions.
