Pilita Corrales, known as “Asia’s Queen of Songs,” passed away at age 85, with her granddaughter, Janine Gutierrez, announcing the news on social media.
The cause of her death has not been disclosed, but Janine described Pilita as a loving, generous woman who touched many lives with her music and spirit.
Pilita, whose real name was María del Pilar Corrales y Garrido, had a career spanning six decades, releasing over 100 albums and performing in multiple languages.
She made history as the only Filipina to perform with The Beatles in 1966 and received numerous awards, including a Lifetime Achievement Award and an honorary doctorate.
Pilita’s legacy continues to inspire, and a memorial service will be announced soon, according to her family.
