The Department of Science and Technology will launch the National Artificial Intelligence Center for Research and Innovation (NAICRI) on February 26 to unify the country’s AI initiatives.
The center aims to consolidate research, computing infrastructure, and training into a permanent national hub, supporting sustained AI innovation beyond individual projects or short-term funding.
DOST Secretary Renato U. Solidum said NAICRI will serve as the institutional backbone for the Philippines’ National AI Strategy, providing coordination and governance for AI research and development.
The center will build on existing facilities and platforms, including the COARE supercomputing facility, PREGINET research network, NAIRA AI-as-a-Service platform, DIMER AI model repository, and iTANONG natural language interface.
The launch at The Manila Hotel will gather government officials, legislators, academics, industry representatives, and international partners to highlight these capabilities and the country’s decade-long progress in AI applications.
