PHILIPPINES, OMAN TO REVIEW HIV TEST REQUIREMENT FOR FILIPINO TRAVELERS

The Philippines and Oman will meet next week to discuss a requirement for Filipino travelers to present negative HIV test results before entering the sultanate.

The Department of Foreign Affairs said it has raised strong concerns with Omani officials, who are now reviewing the policy.

The requirement reportedly applies only to visa-free tourists and not to Filipino workers with employment visas.

Reports said some travelers were barred from boarding flights due to the rule, even without formal notification from Omani authorities.

Both sides expect a possible resolution given the strong bilateral relations between the Philippines and Oman.
