Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. highlighted the need for solidarity to navigate an increasingly unstable security environment.
The handover took place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, with Malaysia expressing confidence in the Philippines’ leadership.
Under its 2026 chairship, the Philippines aims to enhance defense diplomacy, focusing on maritime security, counterterrorism, and disaster response.
The country also seeks to strengthen regional trust, capacity-building, and cooperation to ensure peace and stability in Southeast Asia and the broader Indo-Pacific.
