PHILIPPINE NAVY BOOSTS JOINT PATROLS WITH ALLIES IN 2025

The Philippine Navy announced an increase in joint naval patrols with allied nations this year to strengthen maritime security, particularly in the West Philippine Sea and other strategic areas.

Rear Admiral Roy Vincent Trinidad highlighted the importance of Multilateral Maritime Cooperative Activities (MMCAs) with partners like the US, Japan, and Australia in enhancing the Navy’s capabilities and adopting modern technologies.

Last year, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) conducted several MMCAs, with more planned for 2025 to improve interoperability with allied forces.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Coast Guard criticized China’s continued “illegal” actions in the West Philippine Sea and emphasized the need to challenge Beijing’s attempts to normalize its maritime presence.

The Philippines recently lodged a diplomatic protest against the presence of Chinese vessels and a helicopter near Panatag Shoal.
