The Philippine Army has achieved a remarkable feat by securing a silver medal in the military patrol Olympics held in Wales, United Kingdom.
Despite competing against over 170 patrolling teams from various nations, the Philippine contingent still has a chance to clinch the coveted gold medal.
Led by 1st Lt. Junjun Bayudan, eight soldiers from the First Scout Ranger Regiment overcame the challenges of Phase II of Exercise Cambrian Patrol 2023, an intense multi-event exercise that tests their skills in areas such as chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear drills, counter-improvised explosive devices, and a grueling 60-kilometer patrol with climb and descent.
While no team from the Philippine Army qualified for the gold medal, Army Chief Lt. Gen. Roy Galido lauded the troops for demonstrating the country’s tactical proficiency, adaptability, and unwavering determination on the global stage.
