Filipino and American troops have launched the 19-day Salaknib and Balikatan Exercises 2025, or “Sabak,” at Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija, to enhance military interoperability and readiness.
Philippine Army spokesman Col. Louie Dema-ala said the joint drills, involving the Philippine Army and US Army Pacific (USARPAC), will focus on humanitarian assistance, counter-intelligence, and large-scale operational maneuvers.
The exercises, which began with a ceremony led by Army Vice Commander Maj. Gen. Leodevic Guinid will also include live-fire drills and command training.
Phase 1 runs from March 24 to April 11, while Phase 2 will take place from May 19 to July 20 in Fort Bonifacio and other military zones.
The joint exercises aim to strengthen defense cooperation and enhance the Philippines’ external security capabilities.
