PH, JAPAN BEGIN TALKS ON MILITARY SUPPLY-SHARING PACT

The Philippines and Japan have begun negotiations on an Acquisition and Cross-Servicing Agreement (ACSA), which would enable mutual exchange of supplies and services between their armed forces.

Japanese Ambassador Endo Kazuya also confirmed ongoing talks on a Security of Information Agreement to strengthen bilateral defense ties.

The announcement follows the agreement made by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba in April.

Aboard the JS Ise docked in Manila for the Japan Self-Defense Forces’ 71st anniversary, top Philippine officials praised the growing partnership.

Ambassador Endo highlighted the strategic maritime proximity of both countries and hailed the Reciprocal Access Agreement as a milestone toward deeper defense cooperation.
