PCG RESCUES 17 FISHERMEN STRANDED IN WEST PHILIPPINE SEA

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) successfully rescued 17 fishermen from a distressed boat near Bajo de Masinloc in the West Philippine Sea on July 18.

The fishing vessel “FB Cassandra” was damaged after hitting a floating log, prompting a distress signal that BRP Teresa Magbanua received.

Despite rough seas and strong winds, the PCG towed the vessel back to Mariveles, Bataan.

One fisherman was treated for hypertension while the rest were found to be in good health.

The PCG emphasized the urgency of the rescue as the boat was stranded within the drop zone of China’s rocket launch test.
