President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. pledged to immediately cancel former lawmaker Zaldy Co’s passport once criminal cases are formally filed against him over alleged anomalies in flood control projects. Marcos noted that passport cancellation requires legal grounds, which will be based on the filed cases. Co, who resigned from Congress in September, has denied the allegations, calling them “false and baseless.” When asked about the possibility of naming Co as a state witness, Marcos said it remains an option but declined to comment on Co’s level of culpability. The President also indicated that nearly 40 officials and contractors linked to the corruption mess are expected to be jailed before Christmas, without specifying if Co is among them.
