Former PACC chairman Greco Belgica criticized the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte, calling it a politically motivated distraction from urgent national issues like inflation and economic recovery.
He questioned the timing of the move and urged lawmakers to ensure fairness in investigating government funds, emphasizing that all agencies with confidential funds should be scrutinized.
Belgica, the first nominee of the Bisaya Gyud party list, is currently campaigning in Cebu, particularly among Christian groups, as he seeks a congressional seat in the 2025 elections.
A longtime opponent of the pork barrel system, he previously led the legal battle that resulted in the Supreme Court’s 2013 “Belgica Ruling” declaring PDAF unconstitutional.
He also advocates for economic reforms, including cutting red tape and establishing the Cebu Business Global Islands to boost business growth.
