PALACE SAYS MARCOS FURIOUS OVER REPORTS OF GROWING KICKBACKS IN GOVERNMENT PROJECTS

President Marcos is angered by reports that lawmakers are demanding kickbacks of up to 25 to 30 percent from infrastructure projects, Malacañang said.

Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro highlighted that these high commission rates show deepening corruption, with previous administrations having lower rates.

Marcos has ordered a probe into flood control projects to address these abusive practices and stressed that corruption will not be tolerated.

Castro also responded to criticism about delayed foreign-assisted projects, assuring that the administration will prioritize counterpart funding.

The Palace emphasized that the government’s budget is for the people and development, which Marcos is committed to protecting.
