Malacañang dismissed Senator Imee Marcos’ accusation that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Marcos use illegal drugs, calling the allegation a “desperate move” meant to malign the First Couple.
Presidential Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said the claim revives a disproven issue, citing the President’s negative drug test result from St. Luke’s Medical Center in 2021.
Castro questioned Imee’s motives, suggesting the senator may be trying to divert attention from ongoing corruption investigations that could affect her allies.
She also noted that critics had previously circulated an AI-generated fake video to falsely imply drug use by the President.
Castro urged Senator Marcos to support efforts to clean up government corruption rather than attack her own brother.
