Sen. Robin Padilla visited Sen. Rodante Marcoleta at the Philippine National Police General Hospital on Thursday after securing approval from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), which has custody of the detained senator.
CIDG officials said all visits to Marcoleta must be coordinated through the agency, as ordered by the Sandiganbayan, while he remains hospitalized due to unstable blood pressure.
Marcoleta was arrested on Monday and is under CIDG custody pending trial after the anti-graft court ruled he could not be transferred to regular jail because of his medical condition.
He is facing a plunder case over an alleged undeclared P75 million campaign donation.
Aside from Padilla, Vice President Sara Duterte has also visited Marcoleta, while his immediate family and lawyers continue to see him regularly.
