Customs authorities at the Port of Clark intercepted a shipment of ketamine worth P30.78 million from the Netherlands on Good Friday.
The package, declared as “solar cables” bound for Pasig City, contained six kilograms of ketamine hidden inside a wooden cable spool.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency provided information that flagged the shipment for additional inspection.
A K-9 sniff test and physical search confirmed the presence of the illegal substance, prompting a warrant of seizure and detention.
Port Collector Jairus Reyes noted that smugglers are using new concealment tactics, emphasizing the need to strengthen profiling and examiner expertise to protect the country’s borders.
