OVP TO CHALLENGE COA’S P73 MILLION DISALLOWANCE OF CONFIDENTIAL SPENDING

The Office of the Vice President (OVP) plans to appeal a Notice of Disallowance issued by the Commission on Audit (COA), which demands the return of P73.287 million from the P125 million spent on confidential expenses in 2022.

OVP spokesperson Michael Poa stated that the notice is not final and criticized the discussion of its findings as premature.

The COA’s notice, revealed by ACT Teachers Rep. France Castro during a budget hearing, cites issues with expenditures including P69.787 million in rewards and P3.5 million for office equipment, which lacked proper documentation.

The COA has identified Vice President Sara Duterte and other OVP officials as liable for the disallowed expenses.

Under auditing rules, the amount must be returned unless the appeal is resolved within six months.
