Only 13 of 316 high-ranking Philippine officials voluntarily disclosed their statements of assets, liabilities, and net worth (SALNs), according to the Right to Know Right Now (R2KRN) coalition.
Among those withholding disclosure were President Bongbong Marcos, VP Sara Duterte, resigned Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, and other Cabinet members linked to the P1.7-trillion flood works scandal.
R2KRN highlighted that hiding SALNs undermines transparency and enables corruption, citing cases of officials accumulating luxury properties and assets without public accountability.
The 13 officials who complied, including Secretaries Arsenio Balisacan, Raphael Lotilla, and Renato Solidum, were praised as models of transparency.
The watchdog group plans to request SALNs from the Supreme Court, constitutional commissions, and Ombudsman Remulla to push for broader accountability.
