The Philippine National Police has heightened its monitoring of online shopping scams and fake delivery schemes as fraud cases surge ahead of the Christmas season.
PNP acting chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said cybercriminals have become more aggressive, prompting the Anti-Cybercrime Group to boost surveillance of scam hotspots, suspicious websites, and phishing operations.
Common schemes include fake parcels requiring cash-on-delivery payments, bogus online sellers, phishing links, and impersonation attempts.
The PNP is also intensifying entrapment operations targeting delivery scam groups, phishing syndicates, and SIM or OTP harvesters while probing possible links to foreign networks.
Authorities are working closely with couriers, e-commerce platforms, and payment services, and urged the public to report suspicious activities through the 911 system.
