NSC, POLICE PROBE ESPIONAGE ALLEGATIONS AGAINST GUO

The National Security Council (NSC) and police intelligence are investigating claims that former Bamban mayor Alice Guo is a Chinese spy, as alleged by detained tycoon She Zhejiang in an Al Jazeera documentary.

Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro called for tougher espionage laws to address spying activities even in peacetime, following revelations about Guo’s possible involvement.

Guo has been accused of faking her identity to become mayor and having links to illegal Philippine offshore gaming operations (POGOs) near military facilities.

Philippine National Police (PNP) intelligence units and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group are probing these espionage allegations and Guo’s criminal connections.

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) found torture rooms in the POGO hub linked to Guo, highlighting the scale of illegal activities during former President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration.
