NAVY WARSHIP TEST-FIRES GUN DURING PATROL OFF ZAMBALES

The Philippine Navy’s BRP Emilio Jacinto (PS35) conducted a maritime patrol off Zambales last week, during which it test-fired its 76mm Italian-made Oto Melara gun to ensure weapon operability and crew proficiency.

The patrol, led by Commodore Joseph Dimayuga, focused on heightened maritime domain awareness and presence operations in key sea lanes vulnerable to transnational threats.

The Northern Luzon Naval Command said the mission also aims to ensure the safety of Filipino fisherfolk in the West Philippine Sea.

Meanwhile, the Western Naval Command welcomed returning troops from the Kalayaan Island Group following the successful completion of a rotation and resupply mission.

Naval officials underscored that sustained deployments and regular RORE missions are vital to maintaining operational readiness and a continuous Philippine presence in the area.
