Award-winning actress Nadine Lustre plays Mara de Jesus, a young mother and pageant queen, in the upcoming movie Call Me Mother alongside Vice Ganda.
When first pitched the project, Nadine immediately said yes, even before knowing her role, motivated by the chance to work with Vice Ganda.
She later learned her character would be a mother, which gave her some pause due to concerns about being typecast in maternal roles.
In the film, conflicts arise as Mara tries to reclaim her son, who was raised by Vice Ganda’s character, Mother Twinkle.
Nadine described the project as a full-circle moment, recalling that her first movie, Petrang Kabayo, was also with Vice Ganda 16 years ago.
