MRT-3 EXTENDS WEEKDAY HOURS, MORE TRAINS DEPLOYED

The MRT-3 has extended its weekday operating hours by one hour, with the last trips now departing North Avenue at 10:25 p.m. and Taft Avenue at 11:04 p.m.

Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon has also ordered more train deployments during peak hours following an inspection.

LRT-1 added another train to help ease commuter woes amid the ongoing jeepney strike led by Manibela, which protests the PUV modernization program.

Dizon urged transport groups to engage in dialogue instead of staging strikes, as the government deployed free shuttle services to assist stranded passengers.

Meanwhile, MMDA Chairman Romando Artes said the agency avoided mass deployment of state vehicles to prevent competition with operators who did not join the strike.
