Over 275,000 senior citizens will receive P10,000 each this year under a law signed by President Marcos in 2024, granting financial gifts to elderly individuals at ages 80, 85, 90, and 95.
Rep. LRay Villafuerte announced that P2.95 billion has been allocated for the initial rollout of the cash bonuses under Republic Act 11982 or the “Expanded Centenarians Act of 2024.”
This financial gift is in addition to the P100,000 bonus given to seniors when they reach 100 years old, as stipulated by the Centenarians Act of 2016.
The first batch of beneficiaries included 1,079 seniors who received their bonuses during a ceremony at Malacañang on February 26, with an additional 7,000 expected by the end of the month.
Additionally, the social pension for senior citizens was doubled to P1,000 monthly under Republic Act 11916, which became law in July 2022.
