Davao City’s Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KoJC) compound saw a major increase in police presence with an additional 100 officers deployed as the search for fugitive evangelist Apollo Quiboloy entered its sixth day.
The operation, which began on August 24, now includes 2,100 officers and has faced complications, including complaints from KoJC members about a blue box brought into the compound without an X-ray scan and the introduction of a long-range acoustic device for crowd control.
The Police Regional Office (PRO) 11 reported 29 KoJC members charged with obstruction of justice and direct assault, and 60 officers injured during the raid.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Council of Evangelical Churches (PCEC) urged Quiboloy and his co-accused to surrender peacefully and called for restraint from the police.
In addition to facing charges in the Philippines, Quiboloy is also wanted in the U.S. for alleged labor trafficking and abuse.
