Customers of the Manila Electric Company (Meralco) will see a decrease in electricity rates this October, with a reduction of P0.3587 per kWh.
This brings the average household rate down to P11.4295 per kWh, compared to P11.7882 per kWh in September.
For residential customers consuming 200 kWh, this translates to a savings of about P72 on their total electricity bill.
The reduction is largely due to a drop in generation charges, attributed to decreased costs in the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) and improved power supply in the Luzon grid.
Additionally, lower transmission and ancillary service charges contributed to the overall decline in electricity costs for consumers.
