Vice President Sara Duterte denied owning a Jollibee franchise after a prosecution witness testified that a company listed in her statement of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALN) owns at least five franchises in Davao City.
Duterte said she previously invested in a legitimate business organization but stressed that this does not mean she owns or operates its individual businesses.
Accountant-lawyer Alexander Cabrera testified that Duterte and her husband, Manases Carpio, had at least ₱1.5 billion in unexplained wealth based on bank, tax, and other government records.
Cabrera said his findings included ₱475 million in confidential funds that he had excluded, around ₱100 million in additional financial discrepancies, and potentially higher amounts involving GenCorp Industries Inc.
The testimony was presented as the prosecution pursued the unexplained wealth allegation under Article II of Duterte’s impeachment case.
