The Marikina City Council has officially adopted the 2024 Children’s Code, aiming to strengthen the protection and welfare of children in the city.
The code includes provisions to ensure children’s access to education, healthcare, and social services, as well as measures to prevent abuse and exploitation.
Mayor Marcy Teodoro lauded the adoption, highlighting its importance in creating a safer environment for Marikina’s youth.
The ordinance also calls for the establishment of a local child protection committee to oversee its implementation.
This move is in line with national efforts to uphold children’s rights and promote their well-being.
