President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. visited Naga City on February 21 to inspect flood control projects across the Bicol River Basin, emphasizing that the trip was focused on public service, not politics.
He was accompanied by former Vice President and current Naga Mayor Leni Robredo and Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon as they checked waterways and drainage systems in preparation for heavy rains.
Marcos dismissed political speculation, noting the visit had been planned for months and joking that his pink socks honored Robredo.
Local officials conducted clearing operations under the national “Oplan Baha” program ahead of the visit to ensure effective flood mitigation.
Both Marcos and Robredo stressed that the priority remains addressing critical flood risks in Naga City and nearby Camarines Sur, despite public attention on potential future political implications.
