President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said the Philippines will take advantage of the recent two-week ceasefire between the US, Israel, and Iran to increase fuel supply and protect Filipino seafarers passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
He cautioned, however, that the short duration may not be enough to fully stabilize fuel prices.
Marcos also highlighted the country’s agreement with Iran allowing Philippine-flagged vessels safe passage, which could help ease supply disruptions.
He emphasized that the situation remains unpredictable and that efforts will continue to mitigate impacts on the economy.
The president made the remarks following a meeting with the Private Sector Advisory Council on job and livelihood support for returning OFWs from the Middle East.
