President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has ordered a legal review of Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong’s dual role as mayor and special adviser to the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) due to possible conflicts of interest.
Concerns have also been raised about an allegedly irregular tennis court project linked to a controversial property in Baguio.
Malacañang clarified that Magalong’s appointment to the ICI is advisory only, with no investigative authority over the police or other agencies.
Palace officials noted that Magalong has expressed difficulty balancing his duties in Baguio due to his ICI role.
President Marcos emphasized that Magalong must prioritize his responsibilities to the people of Baguio City.
