President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ordered the Department of Public Works and Highways and the Department of Transportation to improve roads, bridges, and transport systems to strengthen the country’s logistics network.
He said congested ports, inadequate roads, and insufficient cold chain facilities contribute to delivery delays, higher costs, and rising consumer prices.
Marcos stressed that efficient logistics is crucial to ensuring the timely delivery of food, medicines, and other essential goods, especially as the country prepares for Super El Niño.
He also highlighted the new United Parcel Service International Air Hub at Clark International Airport, which is expected to handle around 46,000 packages and cargo shipments daily.
The facility is expected to speed up deliveries to key international markets and improve the movement of goods across the country.
