The Department of Tourism (DOT) is working to include Mindanao in the country’s tourism circuit, highlighting its culture, food, ecotourism sites, and adventure destinations.
A DOT team recently validated tourism attractions in the Zamboanga Peninsula, including sites in Zamboanga del Sur, for possible inclusion in the national tourism circuit.
The agency aims to connect these destinations into accessible travel routes beyond the country’s popular beaches.
DOT officials also highlighted the Subanen community’s traditional crafts and Lakewood’s freshwater lake as potential tourism attractions.
The initiative seeks to promote Mindanao as a safe and diverse destination while improving local tourism infrastructure and products.
