MARCOS BROKE PROMISES, MISHANDLED ICC RENDITION—SARA DUTERTE

Vice President Sara Duterte stated she holds no personal grudge against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. but expressed dissatisfaction with his performance, particularly citing alleged constitutional violations.

In an interview in Melbourne, Duterte said the arrest and rendition of her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, to the International Criminal Court was “an affront to Philippine sovereignty.”

She accused Marcos of failing to deliver on his campaign promises and voiced concern over political persecution she believes is part of her experience under his administration.

Former President Duterte was arrested in March on charges related to the ICC’s investigation into his war on drugs, with a hearing scheduled for September 23, 2025.

His legal team continues to challenge the ICC’s jurisdiction, citing the Philippines’ withdrawal from the Rome Statute.
