President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. appointed Associate Justice Geraldine Faith Econg as the new Presiding Judge of the Sandiganbayan on January 7.
Econg replaces retired Judge Amparo Cabotaje-Tang, and her appointment reflects her extensive legal career.
She has served on the Sandiganbayan since 2016 and previously held judicial roles in Cebu.
As head of the Sandiganbayan, Econg will oversee cases involving graft and corruption by government officials.
She is set to retire in 2037.
