Vice President Sara Duterte has officially endorsed 12 Senate candidates, including reelectionist Sen. Imee Marcos and Las Piñas Rep. Camille Villar, for the upcoming May midterm elections.
Duterte emphasized that these candidates share a “common vision” of a peaceful and prosperous Philippines, bridging political divisions.
Marcos and Villar’s endorsements come after Marcos left the administration-backed Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas.
Meanwhile, Marcos, facing low survey rankings, expressed feeling like “collateral damage” due to her surname, but remains focused on her campaign.
Duterte’s endorsement has sparked reactions from critics who label it an alliance of “convenience and opportunism.”
