President Marcos and First Lady Liza Marcos hosted a dinner for several senators and their spouses at the Bahay ng Pangulo, the presidential residence, on Monday.
Most senators attended, including Senate President Francis Escudero, Senators Ramon Revilla Jr., Lito Lapid, and Francis Tolentino, among others.
The event occurred on the same day that over a million Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) members gathered for a “National Rally for Peace” in Manila, which supported the President’s stance on Vice President Sara Duterte.
Some senators, like Imee Marcos, Risa Hontiveros, and allies of former President Duterte, were not present.
Senators described the dinner as a social affair where politics was not discussed.
