Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna led the groundbreaking ceremony for the new seven-story Victorino Mapa High School building in San Miguel district on Monday.
The PHP298.96 million project will span 21,000 square meters and is expected to be completed by May 2026.
The new building will feature 162 classrooms, science labs, a library, gym, canteen, and auditorium, along with facilities for 159 teachers and 27 non-teaching staff.
While construction is ongoing, classes will be held in the annex building, which will later accommodate senior high school students.
Funded by the city’s Special Education Fund, the project will also provide modern learning tools like smart TVs and desktop computers for students and staff.
