MANILA MAYOR REVEALS P17.8 BILLION DEBT INHERITED FROM ISKO MORENO

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna has announced that it will take the city government 20 years to repay the P17.8 billion debt left by former mayor Isko Moreno.

Since taking office in 2022, Lacuna’s administration has already repaid P2.5 billion of this debt. Lacuna stated that the massive debt is hindering the city’s ability to address the needs of its residents, including senior citizens, persons with disabilities, solo parents, and students.

She noted that the debt has impacted the city’s capacity to fulfill its obligations.

Efforts to obtain a response from Moreno about the debt have so far been unsuccessful.
