Malacañang expressed support for the Philippine National Police (PNP)’s plan to reinvestigate high-profile killings from former president Rodrigo Duterte’s war on drugs.
Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin emphasized the Marcos administration’s commitment to justice and the rule of law.
The PNP committee will look into claims by retired police officer Royina Garma about a rewards system for drug-related killings.
Lawyer Kristina Conti, representing drug war victims, said the investigation is “too little, too late” but welcomed Garma’s revelations as potential evidence for the International Criminal Court (ICC) probe.
Meanwhile, PNP officials are also investigating whether high-profile murders of public officials during the Duterte administration are connected.
