Malabon Mayor Jeannie Sandoval signed an ordinance exempting calamity victims from fees for birth, marriage, and death certificates to ease their burden during recovery.
The “Documentary Relief Assistance to Fire and Other Victims of Natural Calamities Ordinance” waives costs for document authentication and record verification for affected residents.
Eligible individuals can avail of the exemption within one year of the calamity through the City Civil Registry Office in coordination with the Social Welfare and Development Office.
The documents issued under this program hold the same validity as paid ones and are non-transferable.
The ordinance also includes penalties for misuse to prevent abuse and highlights the city’s commitment to providing compassionate aid during crises.
