MAKATI LAUNCHES CASH AND RICE AID PROGRAM FOR PUBLIC SCHOOL STUDENTS

Makati Mayor Nancy Binay launched a new program providing cash and rice support to public school students during her first State of the Children Address on November 17 at Makati Coliseum.

Under City Ordinance 2025‑A‑024, day care, pre-K, kindergarten, and elementary students will receive P3,500 per school year, while junior and senior high school students will get P7,000.

The cash assistance will be given in two installments, and beneficiaries will also receive a monthly 5-kilogram rice subsidy delivered directly to their homes.

The initiative aims to help families with school expenses and reduce absenteeism or dropouts caused by financial difficulties.

The event, attended by over 1,000 students, teachers, and child welfare advocates, also highlighted Makati’s broader efforts to protect and promote children’s welfare.
