Makati City is sharing its portable X-ray units with 558 sister local government units (LGUs) nationwide to enhance tuberculosis (TB) detection and treatment, Mayor Abby Binay announced on Thursday.
This initiative aims to bridge healthcare gaps, especially in underserved communities, by providing crucial diagnostic tools where resources are limited.
The portable X-ray machine, a key component in Makati’s TB combat strategy, allows for mobile diagnostic services.
Makati, a pioneer in using the Fujifilm Xair portable X-ray system, has partnered with TB People Philippines to focus on early detection and management of TB, which can affect various body parts.
Additionally, Makati Life Medical Center recently acquired an AI-powered digital PET/CT system, reflecting the city’s ongoing commitment to improving healthcare.
