A recent Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey revealed that more Filipinos prefer love and companionship over material gifts like money or flowers this Valentine’s Day.
The survey, conducted in December, showed a rise in those prioritizing love and companionship from 11 percent in 2023 to 19 percent this year, while preference for money dropped from 16 percent to 10 percent.
It also found that 67 percent of Filipinos express love through acts of service, while only 46 percent are “very happy” with their love life—the lowest in two decades.
Meanwhile, Moody’s reported a sharp increase in romance scam cases, with flagged entities in the Philippines rising from 10 in 2023 to 45 this year.
For those celebrating, Rizal Park is offering special Valentine’s events, including music, food, and love messages.
