Local absentee voting (LAV) begins today for government employees and other qualified individuals performing election-related duties, with voting available until April 30.
Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman George Garcia urged over 57,000 eligible voters, including police officers, soldiers, government workers, and media members, to cast their ballots between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Garcia emphasized that LAV is a recognition of the dedication and service of these individuals, calling them “heroes.”
The voters will use automated counting machines to vote for 12 senators and one party-list organization.
The designated voting venues include predetermined locations for government personnel and Comelec offices for media members, with the LAV program having seen an 88% voter turnout in the 2022 elections.
